A few things happened since my last entry. An aging chopper probably crashed in the middle of thick jungle of Pahang ( we still have thick jungle, thankfully). It is amazing looking at the bravery of our Air Force guys and gals. It's not the fighting quality that amazed me but their willingness to board a 40 year old flying machine, in doubtful airworthiness, when i shiver each time i board a relatively new commercial plane.
Reminded me of a long time ago when I was in college, a friend of a friend worked at a RMAF base as a technician and he casually told me how 'easy' his job was.Basically it was just eyeballing all the wires etc and just put a tick when he's done. The shocker is that, he'd put a tick even when he can't be bothered to check too...The way it sounded was, that would be more often than not..I'm sure it's the same pervasive mentality everywhere.
Including on the football pitch. That's why we deserve what we get..I can't even name a single player from national team now, a far cry from the days I went to the stadium with my dad and had to sit on the pitch itself because the stadium was full, to watch Soh Chin Aun,Santokh Singh etc playing for Selangor against Kelantan, in Kota Bharu.
Then we have the on-going Altantuya murder trial, the Johari Triad link, the IGP Triad link and the arrest of Nathaniel Tan.
Just think about it..they are all related. The common factor I believe is the degradation or dumbing down of the society, affecting all facets of life..Everybody wanted an easy life and a shortcut to glory.
Fottballers wanted easy cash for playing with clubs, no glory and pride to play for country.
RMAF technicians doesn't (didn't) know what responsibility means.
Altantuya was murdered for money by people who wanted to keep all the money and to be able to make more money.
The Triad, of course wanted money by whatever means possible and Nat Tan was somehow linked in the (gomen?) attempt to cover up the issue..I think
Mankind is going down the drain...
BTW, don't ever give your old SIM card to friends or relatives, you'll never know where it would end up and you be arrested in some foreign country like that poor doctor in Autralia.
Drat, I gave mine last year to a friend in Saudi..hope he's a 'good' guy.
